Reiki Statistics and Research

A concise, sourced snapshot of complementary health use in the United States and the published research landscape that includes Reiki. Last updated August 20, 2026.

At a glance

What the current data can, and cannot, tell us.

Reiki is often discussed alongside other complementary health practices, but national surveys do not always measure it as a stand-alone category. This page keeps that distinction clear: the first four figures describe selected complementary approaches in national survey data, while the remaining figures describe the published biofield therapy research landscape.

Method and sources

How this page is kept useful.

Usage figures come from the 2022 National Health Interview Survey analysis published by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. Research figures come from a 2025 peer-reviewed scoping review and evidence map of human biofield therapy studies.

The page is reviewed monthly, or sooner when a core source releases new data. Each number links to the source that supports it so readers can check the original context.
